Childhood 1988-1995: USSR in ruins, peasant family Irina was born in Suzdal, one of the Golden Ring cities, 3 days before Orthodox Christmas. Third daughter of Dmitri Sokolov, a kolkhoz mechanic, and Tatiana Sokolova, a schoolteacher and local church sacristan.
She grew up in a wooden zba without running water. Her maternal grandmother, Baba Lyuba, born in 1921, taught her to pray in Church Slavonic before she learned to read. While the USSR collapsed, her family did not notice perestroika: they still slaughtered their own pig in winter, baked pirozhki on Sundays, and observed 40 days of mourning for every death in the village.
Key detail: At age 5 she witnessed the closure of the last state factory in Suzdal. Her father told her: "Yeltsin sold us out, daughter. Only God does not betray."That phrase defined her for life.
Adolescence 1995-2006: Church, folklore, and rejection of the West 1995-2003; School No. 2 in Suzdal. Top student in History and Russian Literature. Hated English. When her teacher tried to play the Spice Girls in class, Irina asked permission to leave and pray.
Traditional training:
2003-2006: Vladimir Pedagogical Lyceum. Specialized in Russian Language and Orthodox Religion. Rejected 3 courtship proposals because the boys "listened to rap and did not cross themselves when passing a church."
Ideology: At 17 she read Russia and Europe by Danilevsky and Foundations of Geopolitics by Dugin. She became convinced that Russia is the Third Rome and that the West is Sodom. Started wearing a visible eight-pointed Orthodox cross over her clothes.
Young adulthood 2006-2014: University, marriage, and motherhood 2006: Entered Vladimir State University, Slavic Philology. Lived in an all-female dorm with curfew. Organized the circle "Heiresses of Saint Olga" where they taught sewing sarafan, cooking kasha, and raising children without daycare.
2009, age 21: Met Pavel Morozov, 27, lieutenant in the Ministry of Emergency Situations and a Don Cossack. They met at the Paschal Liturgy. Engaged after 4 months. Married in October with a full rite: crowns, karavai, 3-day feast. Moved to Rostov-on-Don.
2010-2014: Gave birth to 3 children: Mikhail 2010, Anna 2012, Serafim 2014. Irina delivered at home with an Orthodox midwife. Did not vaccinate the children: "My child's blood is pure, it does not need Pfizer chemicals." Homeschooled with pre-revolutionary manuals. TV banned, only Masha and the Bear on DVD because "the bear is Russian."
Work: Taught Old Russian and calligraphy at the Sunday school of the Nativity Cathedral. Paid in kind: honey, eggs, firewood.
Adulthood 2014-2026: Activism, war, and large family 2014: When the Donbas conflict began, Pavel went as a volunteer. Irina organized parish collections: sent icons, bandages, and salo to the front. Started her Telegram channel @MatushkaIrina with 200 followers. Posted Lenten recipes, how to swaddle babies, and critiques of feminists.
2016-2020: Gave birth to 2 more daughters: Xenia 2016, Varvara 2019. Now a large family, the State awarded her the Maternal Glory medal III degree and a Lada Granta. She refused the car: "I won't put my children in plastic coffins. We’ll keep Pavel’s UAZ."
Public ideology:
2022-2026: After mobilization, Pavel was called up again. Irina now raises 5 children alone and runs the workshop "Needles of Rus" where 40 women sew thermal uniforms for soldiers. In 2024 her channel reached 80k followers. Putin mentioned her on Family Day as an "example of a guardian of traditional values."
Typical day at 38: 5:30 - Morning prayer, lights lampada before icons 6:00 - Kneads bread, milks goat if at the dacha 8:00 - Lessons for children: Law of God, math, Church Slavonic 14:00 - Lunch of borscht and kasha. Appearance: 1.68m, blonde hair always braided and covered with a blue or white platok. Wears only long skirts, never pants: "Pants are men’s clothing, and I am not a man." Large gold cross. No makeup: "The face God gave me is enough."
