Our organization, Cloud 9 Services and its business-centerpiece, Cloud 9 Bar & Grill, has been proud to be one of the city’s founding businesses and becoming a place for all in the city to come by for food, drink, and a good night out. However quiet it’s become, within businesses, communities and the city as a whole, Cloud 9’s shareholders and valued staff have done their best to keep active and provide not just goods and services, but achieve unique, special skills, trades and talents to provide cuisine that goes beyond the burger-guy-on-the-corner standard.
Just another grueling business meeting…
After years spent as friends and looking for a city that offered unique business ownership opportunities to its citizens, both Penelope Lime and Crystal Hypnotic found their ‘end of the rainbow’ at Cloud 9 Bar & Grill. Penelope started her culinary career there not long after its opening, bringing Crystal into the fold when she needed help the most. It’s been a long, hard road, dealing with the revolving door that sometimes affects a struggling city; once joining forces and eventually earning and obtaining ownership of the organization and business from its founders, they let their ideas fly free and watched to see what worked.
Cloud9 Goals & Achievements
MASTERING MENUS… Penelope has made it her goal to learn and execute every recipe available in the city, all to offer the people a wide variety of exclusive dishes. After months of balancing her time in the kitchen with gaining skills as an angler in the fishing yard, she acquired the honor involved in creating the top sushi dish of ‘Deluxe Sushi Platter’. By the end of September, she reached the milestone of learning all recipes in all departments in reaching the final cocktail recipe of the ‘Blood Mary’.
The ‘Long Island Iced Tea’ is more aesthetically pleasing, however.
These achievements wouldn’t have been easy to reach without her business partner Crystal Hypnotic, who provides a much-needed production line that keeps the sales counters stocked and full of delicious grub and drinks. She’s the quintessential sous-chef and ‘mixologist’ of all things juice, tea and pop. making sure the entire city stays hydrated. Her special ‘Hypnotic Grape’ drink IS rather mesmerizing.
But that sushi though.

There are many offerings the city has for its people that are woefully underutilized, and C9 wants to change that. Part of their business model includes the acquirement of properties located within the fishing yard at Alamo Sea.
Them’s good eatin’.
Anyone hired in Cloud9 can enjoy access to a small home there which offers them a “practice kitchen” full of stocked shelves, appliances and tools needed for a class in culinary. When it comes to hauling a day’s fishing from the lake to the kitchen, their warehouse provides storage for top of the line backpacks, shelves, and other materials which allow ease of transport and keeping fridges stocked with everything needed to make platter after platter of seafood delights.
It takes a hard grind and time to get to tuna-catching status; but anyone in the city is welcome to throw out a line and catch those ‘recipe ingredients’ needed on the menu, which C9 would pay for any catches involving catfish, shad, tuna and sole.
As the Cloud grows and develops, it hopes to continue being a prime spot of activity and opportunities that anyone in the city can take advantage of. The possibilities are vast and wide when it comes to catering, expanding their reach with food truck ventures and holding impromptu events and parties for anyone to attend.
Supporting ALL businesses
Cloud9 Bar & Grill not only invites and welcomes competition from other restaurant hopefuls, but enjoys supporting them as well. It’s tough out there, trying to get the word out about your dream and wanting to live it… and sometimes you just want to grab a pizza you didn’t slave over yourself.
‘Pizza Planet’, one of C9’s elevator-biz neighbors, is SO PIZZA it hurts.
Cloud hopes to hold exciting, fun events in the future; trivia nights, dinner parties, food trucking to city events and other spots, collabs with other businesses… whatever brings new ideas and things to do all over the map. With some new, promising hires working hard every day, we can see what our goals are more clearly with every day. Getting to live a dream after years hoping it’d come true one day is enough to keep our energy up and spirits high, no matter the challenges.

GENDER: Female
PARENTS: Susan Lime and Alex Lee of Huntington, Massachusetts, both twenty-one at the time of Penelope's birth struggled as young, inexperienced parents do. Alex's upbringing was far rougher than Susan's, who's own family took her and Penelope in without question and helped raise her through the years. Her grandfather, Henry 'Chick' Lime, provided a secure, loving father figure and was always open to helping Alex reconnect and do better, as well.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: Penelope has natural blond hair (though she admits using lemon juice for 'highlights' and 'upkeep') and prefers to have it up in pigtails/buns; she has green eyes and stands at 5'6". Regular runs/exercise gives her a good toned physique.
PERSONALITY: Penelope feels and thinks deeply, and is very honest about herself and what she represents. If she takes a job or position within a group she's come to know as 'her people', she will make sure her work represents exactly what was asked for, well past the standard mark to meet.
She sometimes has to recognize problems she herself creates when she becomes too passionate and intense over something others may think isn't that big of a deal. In the end, she simply wants to be understood, while also acknowledging that she can be a 'bit much' at times. Being a natural scientist at heart, she can always come back down to Earth and to her support group she's found in The Real Business.
CHILDHOOD: Grandfather Henry found himself reliving his father-role with Penelope, as he had with her mother Susan. It was something he'd embraced whole-heartedly, giving Penelope a view of what a good, hard-working and loving man looked like. Though he and his wife Helen were technically wealthy, their living a small town life in the Berkshire Hilltowns running the attached barn-business antique shop 'Chick's Curio' their family was seen as 'just like everyone else'. They lived humbly, everyone knowing everyone; the entire town watched Penelope grow up, she and her overalls-wearing grandfather and their wagon full of tools (pickaxes, magnet-lines, etc.) being pulled behind them one of the most common sights to come across. Penelope proved to be an asset for Henry, who discovered that his hyper, always-curious and adventurous granddaughter had a keen scavenger sense, always finding the most interesting of natural treasures. But it'd been the hot summer morning when she'd called her grandfather over to the spot she'd strangely insisted on digging into, coming up with an 1898 silver dollar from nowhere that earned her the title 'Scrapper' at four-years old.
YOUTH: Penelope's main social group was her neighborhood, which was comprised of mostly boys in her age group. Their school provided education to children in the entire county, making for early morning wake-ups to catch the bus she'd ride for over an hour each day.
She'd find herself staring through the bus windows and go trance-like, letting her imagination run wild to pass the time. She created secret cities the bus would suddenly be driving through, the streets full of people from all over the world gathering there for mysterious reasons.
Though she'd start the school day strong and had a few close girlfriends, the distances between them all prevented get-togethers most kids in bigger cities and towns had access to.
When finally home however, she'd find herself with the neighborhood boys (and one little sister of one of them) exploring trails in the woods, or recreating fight scenes from Bruce Lee movies (Penelope's favorite action star). The boys treated her as an equal, especially since she was good at fighting. Growing up, she considered boxing as a hobby, but lost interest quickly when the only possibility of school hosting a girls' team fell flat. She continued practicing, however, enjoying the art of 'Pugilism', where one prefers fighting hands-on, instead of with weapons. After high school, Penelope chose to help with the antique business instead of continuing her education.
Her father Alex had started coming around more during this time, and though Susan struggled with their having the history they did, she welcomed him to the home for Penelope's sake. Penelope didn't find it much of a struggle, understanding that his mistakes had 'nuttin' at all to do with me.'
Though the initial dreams she'd had coming into the city changed drastically (and depressingly. having the man she'd come in with leave her in one night, engagement ring left on her shelf), her people were too many reasons she had to keep going. Being around likeminded, hardworking and adventurous people in The Real Business has allowed her to get expressive, loud and inventive in ways former places lived saw as 'too much' and 'weird'.
She'd had a great impression of Ds from the get, seeing him as immediately interesting, complex and goal-oriented as he was. She hadn't even realized that a good friend she'd made, Marcus Winther, had also been in TRB, creating another tie she had with this wild, wonderful grouping. After getting to know a number of others and joining along with business ideas, she had no other choice than to get into the entire jar of mixed nuts and show them what she had to offer, and hasn't regretted her choices in how she herself feels when around people who seem to really honestly and truly value her.
